Perhaps of Interest Volume 6
Christmas music, Hanukkah shows, and Lynchian quinoa...
Despite being Jewish, I make a Christmas playlist every year. I started doing it when I worked at the Texas Capitol, and the Texas House had a Christmas playlist with about 12 songs that played in the chamber in perpetuity, over and over. I adore King George, but after a week or two, I even tired of hearing his version of Frosty the Snowman again and again. I don’t know how the House Sergeants didn’t go completely mad, since they sat in the House Chamber for long periods of time.
So I made a playlist to show how many Christmas songs there are to choose from, and a tradition was born. I make a new playlist every year with about an hour and a half of specially selected songs. I also have a behemoth of a playlist meant to be played on shuffle that has all the Christmas music I’ve collected over the years. The longer playlist currently has 52 hours and 49 minutes of music. This year’s curated playlist is called, “SLEIGH,” and it’s got Christmas cheer from artists like Amanda Shires, Matt Rogers, Tyler Childers, Kurt Vile, the Murder City Devils, Toots & the Maytalls, and Barbra Streisand. Please enjoy!

I’m planning to watch at least one of these Hanukkah episodes to celebrate the first night tonight.
It’s been a while, but I’m still thinking about this bizarre video of David Lynch showing off his quinoa recipe.
I loved this story about a Houston nonprofit that upcycles materials like the leather from Southwest Airlines seats and Super Bowl banners into one-of-a-kind clothing.
I just finished Barbra Streisand’s magnum opus of a memoir on audiobook, and I loved every moment of it. I highly recommend the audiobook because she reads it, and there are clips of the music as she talks about recording and performing it. Please support independent bookstores by purchasing it on Libro.fm instead of Audible! Libro.fm has a membership model just like Audible, which means you woudn’t have to purchase it full price, and you can send your money to the local book store of your choice.

I love everything about this!
